• It is membrane. It does have a nice feel. I purchased an external mechanical keyboard because I intend to use the laptop with the cover closed at least some of the time. ($120; individual key RGB; replaceable keycaps; hot-swappable switches) - so I don't this should be a deal killer

• The laptop does not sport a mechanical keyboard. Mechanical keyboards on laptops are quite expensive, the only place I know that sells laptops with mechanical switches is Dell's Alienware series.
