No it will not affect performance. Amongst other things you'll just be missing out on some networking capabilities. Just be careful when you're installing Windows Pro. I can't remember if there's a separate partition on the installed ssd by Asus as a backup for restoring options. Personally if it was me I would be ok with formatting the whole drive but I'm sure there's some out there that would more comfortable keeping it.
