• The RAM will still perform in dual-channel mode if the existing 8GM RAM was replaced with a 16GB.

• Not necessarily. Just depend on wether you are using all your available RAM at any given point. The motherboard will utilize the RAM Efficiently but only difference would be heat distribution between ram chips, when using memory intensive tasks and programs.
