• A:Answer We do understand your concern about thermal issues. It is normal that excessive heat is generated while the laptop is under heavy load, like when playing games. When system resource utilization is high, this will generate more heat than normal and tends to trigger the fan to spin at full throttle to keep the excessive heat under control. Ensure air ventilation is free from obstructions to have an efficient air flow for better heat dissipation. Furthermore, check in the Task Manager for resource-hungry processes, services and applications that are running in the background and disable them if not being used. Running these applications simultaneously will certainly spike the temperature and may cause an auto-reboot, or an auto restart. The heat or temperature does decrease or normalize once system resource utilization goes down.

Q: QuestionI bought this laptop for my son for college. He's going to be an engineering student, so he needed the speed and power. I am scared it will be stolen. Is there a lock, like Kensington or otherwise, I can get to secure it to a desk?

• A:Answer Make sure your son in college uses Bitlocker (built into Windows) to encrypt the HDD, and also have him go into BIOS to prevent boot-up from USB. Assuming he has a Windows password set, and the screen is locked, this will prevent thieves from being able to re-image the device. You can also consider Absolute.com cloud recovery services.
