Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. So this was a problem I was having when trying to figure out if I could use newer Asus AIMesh compatible devices on older routers. The answer is "Yes it works" and Asus is not very clear on this, and exactly for the reason you might expect. They want to sell you newer routers with the extenders and if you assume it only works with newer devices, and you buy them... Asus wins. As of right now ALL AIMesh compatible devices are compatible with all AIMesh devices. On my older Asus AC-GT5300 I had RP-AC55 repeaters and it claimed it didn't handle ethernet backhaul and finding any kind of information was extremely tough and confusing. Spoiler alert, it worked just fine even with all the newer firmware for the AC-GT5300 (even inside the router said it wasn't compatible with warnings when enabling it) and older RP-AC55 firmware. I was just going to purchase more older used RP-AC55 units, and for about $25 more new I could go with this AX3000 repeater/AIMesh node. I dropped the chunk of change for 4 x AX3000 & the GT-AX11000 Pro router. I have about a 5000sq/ft home and with the router and 4 AIMesh I have COMPLETELY eliminated any dead spots in my house with wifi, while using ethernet backhaul (not using wireless to connect back to the router, using a physical ethernet connection instead). My only regret was not pulling the trigger sooner and doing it. Long winded answer on these AIMesh nodes, but I was in the same boat as you trying to find ANY information before making a purchase so I know the pain you are in and hopefully this gave you some kind of useful information in the rambling. The attached image is the interface inside the Asus GT-AX11000 Pro that shows the RP-AX58 (AX3000 AIMesh nodes you are asking about) connected via ethernet backhaul in my AIMesh topology.
