8 of 16 GB is soldered and not replaceable. There is a single memory slot that contains a replaceable 8 GB SODIMM. What this means is the realistic max RAM is 24 GB (8+16). The motherboard might accept 40 GB total (8+32) which is higher than the official spec, but this is by no means certain.

Please try again later.according to BestBuy's specs it is expandable to 32, Not possible with just one expandable slot,. you can go to 24 or maybe 40 but I don't know of any 24 gb sodimm out there.... Also by using a larger 16 or higher sodimm in the expandable slot you will force the machine to operate in flex memory mode roughly only two thirds of dual channel bandwidth...
