This laptop supports up to 32 gigs of RAM, but the problem with going up to 32 is that there's only one stick of RAM that can be swapped. The other 8 gigs is soldered onto the board, so the most you can really use is 24 gigs. To answer your question, more RAM is better, so yes it is better to upgrade it, but 16 is most likely going to be enough for the average person.
