A:AnswerI searched the Asus website for this model (X413JA- 211.VBWB) and found two laptops. According to the manual there, NEITHER can be upgraded past 4GB. In fact, the manual found there didn't even indicate any method of accessing the interior. This is typical of laptops at this price point. This means the machine should probably be considered a "consumer" model and not meant for upgrades, as opposed to a more expensive "enterprise" or "business" model, which is manufactured for easy access to the battery, RAM, and HDD.
However, this does not meant it is impossible up upgrade, but it might (probably) void your warranty should you try. If you go to YouTube and do a search for the model, you can find a number of interesting videos on unboxing, reviews, etc. including at least one showing how to open the unit and add a secondary solid state drive, replace the battery, primary drive and WiFi card, and perform a few other procedures, but it indicates that the RAM is integrated into the unit and NOT replaceable.
This is not to say that you shouldn't feel free to change what you want and can, but for the faint of heart (and those who don't want to risk throwing their money away), be warned that working inside a laptop can be a very intimidating experience, much more so than working inside a desktop. Parts, including screws and connectors, are tiny and very delicate, and procedures must often be done in particular order. I myself have upgraded RAM, HDD, and WiFi card and replaced the battery on a similar, older Asus, so I know what I am talking about (in that model, you had to replace the bottom cover screws in the same holes they were extracted from, since the screws were a total of four different lengths!).
