• Get a 32GB. It works just fine. I did it and reports the full 40GB after install.

• So I have the laptop and this was the first thing I did, was upgrade the memory. You're right only one upgradable DIMM slot, and could only add 16GB max. So the laptop does max out at 24GB, but worth the upgrade. It was pretty easy to swap out too. Good luck.
