As someone else said, 550 nits is considered quite high. As to your second question, while this laptop can handle multi tasking with little problem, it cannot necessarily do so with the 8GB that is the default configuration. I recommend adding at least another 8GB, and preferably more (24GB up). It matters little whether your games are in the background: any active game will use RAM, CPU and graphics processing power.
