Yes, the ASUS Vivobook 16 (M1605YA) supports both HDDs and SSDs via USB.

This laptop does feature USB-A 2.0 as well as two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, so you should be good. It also includes a single USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port (which is also used for charging, so try to use Type A while plugged in) to handle SSDs with a decent transfer speed.
