The speaker is the small horizontal bar across the top of the screen. You can crank it up and get some volume out of it, but if your car is really noisy, you might want an external speaker. There's a headphone jack so you can plug into it and boost the volume. It's got DTS built-in and the sound when using headphone is excellent.
