You should not need 2 bases: -If you did use 2 bases, I cannot guarantee they will work together, although they *should* IF your house was wired correctly by VOIP /internet phone company. -The DECT 6 function in general allows for almost 200 ft (50m) indoors, or approx 1000 ft (300 m) outside [straightline distance] Depending on the number of walls/floors in your house, results will vary. If this works for you, don't buy 2 bases, just 2 more extension phones. -You can buy them here, just list portable phones, then choose a filter of lowest to highest price [they will list early being cheaper]. HOWEVER -Long range repeaters are available, that make asking this question unnecessary. -Place the base unit centrally if possible. ...By strategically placing a repeater unit at the end of the base's normal reach, one can *theoretically* double that range to approx. to 400 ft (100 m) total until signal is lost. ...By placing one at each end, that gives a total theoretical reach of 800 ft. [over 2 and one half football fields!] ...Beyond that an additional repeater unit can be used, extending the range yet another 200 feet, for 600 feet from the base, theoretically, one way. ... Now the theoretical reach becomes 1200 ft. That's 4 football fields of distance working off 1 base! ...More repeaters than that have a diminishing return and aren't worth the trouble and expense. --SO: To the question "Can it be done off 1 base?"-- YES!!!
