The base unit does require a wall jack, but the additional units do not.

Yes you plug it into a wall jack or VOIP system. Wireless is between the base and the handsets.

The base unit plugs in to the wall jack, the hand held individual units are all wireless.

Cordless base unit means the phone in the base is also cordless. base gets the phone wire to the wall, and power cube into wall outlet
