• I haven't witnessed these myself, but the manual clearly says that you can clear messages from the handset, and that there is a lighted indicator on the handset when there is a new message (or voicemail) -- not flashing, but a lighted icon at least.

• Yes, you can clear messages from and and all handsets. Only the base unit has a tell-tale to inform you of messages.
