“I have an old copper wire phone line (Verizon), I purchased this unit and the answering machine does not answer. Does it require a fiberoptic line? It does work on my cable vision phone. The answering machine is on and I don't have voicemail.”

If this info is not available on the phone's "complete user's manual" at www.att.com/manuals then I would call the customer service number 1-800-222-3111 as listed on the Abridged user's manual which came in the box.
