The short answer is "Yes", the long answer is "yes, but it isn't very expensive, and it works quite well." Google "att unlimited ipad plan reddit" to see how to do it.

It actually comes with a SIM card which is great. Just pop off the tray on the bottom of the unit and take out the SIM card. Take a picture of the numbers on the front of the sim as you will need them when setting up a plan. You can then put the SIM card back in the device. You will then have to choose a AT&T plan that works with that device. You can go to your nearest AT&T store or Best Buy and have them set you up with a plan. Once the plan is activated, the router will start showing the network name and password on the front of the display which you can use to connect your devices. It also shows the current data used for that pay period which is nice. If using this device as an at home solution where the device will stay in one place all the time, first make sure the firmware is updated to the latest version and then pop out the rechargeable battery. Doing this will keep the device from recharging the battery that doesn’t need to be recharged since the router just stays in one place all the time. It also prevents the device from overheating since with the battery out it won’t have to charge the battery over and over. This device with a good AT&T plan can absolutely work as a decent gaming solution, but just make sure these things are done... the router needs to be placed in a spot with at least decent cell coverage; and make sure you connect your gaming device to the router with an Ethernet cable. Do NOT use WiFi! It may work okay for you gaming on WiFi but connecting it with an Ethernet cable makes a world of difference. Finally, any updates that your games need to perform try to bring your gaming device to another location where you can download your update files so that you don’t end up using all your data plan on downloading updates. As a guy who recently moved into a rural area with almost no internet options, as well as being a hardcore gamer, this setup saved me.
