The user manual doesn't indicate any way to shut off the main screen display. The only display that should remain on when the phone is closed is the small display on the outside of the phone that shows the time & date. And it should only stay on for about 5-10 seconds after closing the phone. The main screen display should go off as soon as the phone is flipped closed and it should immediately come on again when the phone is opened. The User Manual does show an adjustment for how long the main display stays on (Screen Timeout) while the phone is open. That adjustment is located in Settings under Personalization, Display, Screen Timeout.
