• You have to keep the service on so you do have to pay each month

• Hi Kathy, Yes, you will need to put at least the set amount to keep it active - ($10-$24 payments expire in 30 days, $25 to $99 in 90 days, $100 or more in 365 days). David, AT&T Community Specialist
