“Why do I have to have Messaging app open to receive notifications of a new message? Can I change this to always receive notifications even if Messaging app is not open. Just bought this at Best Buy last week and this is a pain in the neck issue.”

That shouldn't be happening man you need to go back to the store this some kind of glitch going on
