Yes, I did exactly that and transferred my phone number to the new phone. Best Buy won't help you transfer the phone number, but it is easy to do my calling AT&T. I had a different type of sim card in my old phone and I have not figured out a way to transfer my contacts, but I can pull my contacts up on outlook when I need them.
