“Friend who bought this phone reported that he actually has about 6.5 GB available data out of the 16 GB data storage stated capacity on his brand new phone. Can anyone explain this?”

• Easy, AT&T bloatware. All the apps they put on the phone before buyer gets a chance. Most of the 56 or so apps can't even be removed.

• Mine shows 8 GB total (7.3 available) and 3.6 used. So probably 3.3GB is used off the top, for Android/etc. Not a big deal for me though -- SD for pics.
