We just purchased an AT&T data card at Best Buy. You can purchase for various amounts dependent upon your usage. We started with a $25 card and used about half for 2 weeks off-an-on usage. You can also go to the AT&T website to purchase data plans.

You can also choose the $75 plan for 8 GB per month. They also have a plan for less than 5. If you run out of data for the month you can purchase 1 GB add-ons for $10 per 1 GB online on AT&T's prepaid site. You can create an AT&T prepaid account when you activate the device for the first time. They will assign you a phone number even though it's a hotspot. 2. The most you can purchase with a plan is 8 GB per month for $75/month, but if you need more you can purchase $10/GB add-ons through the AT&T prepaid site. 3. I have gotten up to 40 Mbps download speed, and in my 2-month experience it has never been unreliable. The average speed I get is between 12-20 Mbps download speed and 5-7 Mbps upload speed, MUCH more than my regular satellite service at home. Bottom line, it's not a cheap internet service, but a great backup when your main internet goes out.
