Best value

Great backup internet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I rushed in BestBuy in a panic due to my internet being down, thus being unable to work in my home office. Had a deadline to meet that day. I purchased the AT&T velocity due to the great online reviews and wasn't disappointed. Easy activation and started working immediately, plus the 4G was so much faster than my home internet. I ended up getting way more done in less time. Now I only use only this gadget for work and the home internet just for surfing. Excellent investment.

Fast and reliable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read a review that said the hotspot can be used with a Cricket sim card. So I tried it myself and it works like a charm! Unlimited data for $55 a month. Just don't activate the hotspot with AT&T first, you'll have to wait 6 months before you can change the service provider if you do.

Fits in my little purse
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I live this little hotspot. I had it working within minutes after purchasing it. They have such a nice set up on it so that you can initially connect as a guest if you're needing to set things up. That was super helpful. It's intuitive to use, and has worked great while traveling in a vehicle near the Pacific Ocean, and also near the Great Lakes, as well as in the city surrounded by skyscrapers. I haven't encountered any disruption areas (yet)! I haven't tried to connect 10 devices at once to it yet, but there were no issues connecting 4 devices. It's easy to carry with me. I carry a very small purse with me, and it surprisingly fits in it. That was a bonus!

Easy to use and carry
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After simple initial setup our phones and laptops connect easily. Small size makes it easy to carry or travel, safer than public wifi. We don't seem to notice any difference in performance between pairing with this unit or our home setup (comcast)

Perfect for no contract commitment
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like this device. It can have up to 10 devices on it. I bought it to go to a conference where Wi-Fi was restricted. I also wanted something in case the power went out. It was very easy to get up and running. I bought 2G for $25. The only thing I do not care for is in 30 days whether used or not it expires. I was looking for something that I could just add to when I needed it. So for $25 a month and 10 devices it is not bad. I will wait to see if I can let it go for over 30 days before reloading it.

Hotspot in a pinch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Exactly the product you need when you’re in a spot and don’t have Wi-Fi. Easy to set up and connect to. Make sure you change your network setting to show metered device. CONS. Unable To set up account to add additional funds via the web account

Great device! but....
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome little hotspot, onscreen menus with touchscreen is very easy to operate, used with At&t, speeds were great but for just for basic emails and work related tasks I used a 2 GB plan in 3 days, make sure you get a larger data plan if you're planing to get it.

Q: QuestionIs a data plan needed? If a plan is needed how much does it cost?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer No, the idea is that you can purchase prepaid time and use it. Once you run out then you can purchase more. Be careful of some customer service agents at ATT. My Daughter went to activate the device and the CS rep tried numerous times to get her to get a plan for the device saying it was needed, however my daughter refused to do so. That said, if you want to get a plan with it I suppose you can, however the idea is to purchase recharge time and use it like that. Hope this helps...

Q: QuestionWhat is an unlimited data plan
Asked by PeteA.
- A:Answer Always read the fine print. True unlimited will have no "throttling," meaning some companies refer to their plan as unlimited; however, the fine print reveals they give you a certain amount of data at high speed, and, once that is used up they "throttle" the service down to speeds similar to the old "dialup."

Q: QuestionCan i use this in a cabin by the lake with no internet or phone service?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer No. It's just like a cell phone. If your AT&T phone works there, this will work there. If not, best of luck!

Q: Questiondoes this device come with unlimited data or internet
Asked by dynomite.
- A:Answer AT&T now offers a prepaid unlimited plan, but the download speed is maxed at 3 Mbps. This speed might not be enough for other needs, but for basic internet browsing and video streaming in standard definition, it will be OK. Just like the other unlimited plans, once you reach a cap (22 gb of data usage), your internet traffic may be subject to network management during peak times. A Best Buy AT&T rep can explain this better if you have other questions. The unlimited plan offered by Cricket wireless might be a better option, for the same price, the download speed is maxed at 8 Mbps, and runs off AT&T towers too. This mobile hotspot will work with Cricket wireless. Check it out!

Q: QuestionThis device is to provide me with wifi right? So I won't be using up all of my data plan allotment?
Asked by Jjoe.
- A:Answer Correct! But you still need to purchase a prepaid card $30-$50-$80 and it eill provide you with internet connection via wifi rather than using ur phone plane data! If u have Direct TV and ur cell phone is AT&T call up AT&T and tell them in your house younhave direct TV and they will change your plan to UNLIMITED EVERYTHING

Q: QuestionIs there a monthly bill
Asked by Abe5555.
- A:Answer No. Not unless you setup an auto pay. I have 3 for my students at our after school program and it allows us to connect 8 to 10 students each. When we run out of data...usually toward the end of the month I can add on a few more gigs for 10 bucks. It's easy to refill and load up via internet. My students love it. Connection is fast since I use it in my school office for wireless printing. Since we work on a grant I didn't want to get a contract. So when the grant ends so does the hotspot purchase. Excellent buy. Get it.
