No. Not unless you setup an auto pay. I have 3 for my students at our after school program and it allows us to connect 8 to 10 students each. When we run out of data...usually toward the end of the month I can add on a few more gigs for 10 bucks. It's easy to refill and load up via internet. My students love it. Connection is fast since I use it in my school office for wireless printing. Since we work on a grant I didn't want to get a contract. So when the grant ends so does the hotspot purchase. Excellent buy. Get it.

If you want to get a two-year contract there is one but then it is just pay as you go you purchase the amount that you need
