If your using a wireless hotspot that will be all you need. The WiFi password is printed on to the hotspot usually and you just go to your setting on the Fire stick and connect it to the WiFi. Some hotspots have Ethernet port on them which could allow you to connect it to your own router but you will need to put one of them in a bridge mode so they don't interfere with each other. There is no need for a modem unless you have a cable internet provider and they don't supply you with one. If you get internet through att they have a modem/Wi-Fi router that the technician will install for you. Oh and if you have a jail broke fire stick don't be surprised if you have problems with it, lots of times they are slow and it's not because of your internet provider.
