I purchased the Velocity & an AT&T prepaid card and set it up. It is very easy to use and set up is very quick and easy. Moreso than the Verizon Ellipsis which I also purchased. I paid $50 for 5GB and my son was able to use it at his job without cutting into the family data plan. Again, very easy to set up. The downside is if you don't use all the GBs within a month, you lose it. Verizon actually gives you 60 days so that's good. All the info you'd need to monitor usage comes up right on screen - versus Verizon Ellipsis which you have to call to find out what you've used. I highly recommend the AT&T Velocity Hotspot.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It uses the AT&T cell network, just as if you created a hotspot on your phone. So you need a contract or a Prepaid card.. and a good cellphone signal (don't expect to take it out in the wildwoods. ..) It has to be initialized and set up, after which it's controlled from the touchscreen menus .
