• Maybe some paperbacks, but anything deep would be too deep. Think of a standard DVD case, that is the depth of this storage unit.

• You most certainly could. It would not hold large books, a bluray just barely hangs over the edge. My brother has one also and he has a bunch of books on his. Hope this helps.....

• The shelves are actually not very deep. The DVDs and BluRay movies actually hang over the edge.

• The weight of books on the shelves would be too much and many books are deeper and would not fit properly on the shelves.. This unit is specifically made for CDs and DVDs not books.
