This turntable has "auto-tracking" so the counterweight isn't necessary and despite having had it for only a few months, it seems to work really well. It also has "anti-skating" automatically so the stylus seems to stay centered in the record's groove. I get good response from both channels on my speakers. A more expensive turntable will give you adjustments for both of these but depending upon your budget, you're getting a good turntable with the Auto-Technica. I have the Bose Companion 2 speakers. At low to normal volume, they are really, really good. They seem to get a little muddy when the volume is way up. I'll use my Sony CH700N Bluetooth headphones for the loud stuff. Check out You Tube for info on each of these.

I have yet to use the USB to transfer music to my computer. From research, the turntable I really wanted was $300. Decided I didn't need the higher end for the $$. I can easily recommend Edifier speakers (R1280T). These are 'powered' speakers so you do not need an amplifier or anything else to plug into. They plug directly into the turntable. Most speakers need an auxiliary to plug into. They sell for around $100 and sound fine. Also space saving size. Good luck.
