• If you are using this just for subs then yes you can hook it up to just one speaker but if you are using a full range amp and full range speakers then you will want to hook it to both so you have stereo and left right separation. Yes unplug the speakers so there is no unnecessary stress on your speakers. It has a clip light on it

• The LC2i can use either one or two speaker to create the RCA signal. If using a sole speaker connection you would start with the "left speaker" input on the unit.
