Yes. You need the newer cables that support 4K. It's not a gimmick to get you to spend more either. I just recently had to replace my cables. I tried the ones I have that are 6-7 years old and they're not compatible.

However, due to the quality of the conductors, the insulation, the connectors and the method of termination, Ocean will give you better performance than a 'generic' HDMI cable.
