Yes since RCA connections are unbalanced. XLR connectors would be for a balanced signal. Note that the Red River cable is for a single channel and two will be needed if you want stereo L/R. Check out the Golden Gate line Audioquest offers if that is what you are looking for. Otherwise, this would be great for a mono connection to a subwoofer or on pre-amps/amps that have wide spacing of rca connectors such as a dual mono or fully balanced design.
