Just installed these. I bought one Smart Lock with Connect and two Smart Locks. The blue shirt told me I only need one Connect to work with multiple locks. He was wrong. You 100% need one Connect for each Smart Lock. This is absolutely stupid. I'd recommend passing on this one. Taking mine back.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You will need one August Connect per August Smart Lock. Please see link below from August.com https://support.august.com/august-connect-faq-BylGvUyA_G
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.one per lock
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The August Bridge is only needed to remotely unlock or lock your door when you are not at home. One bridge connects one smart lock. My house has three exterior doors, and I could install an August Smart Lock on each one. But I wouldn't necessarily need to unlock all of them when I'm not home. I've purchased one bridge, and I can remotely unlock one door. I've set the smart lock to auto lock after 20 minutes, so (in theory) I know it's always locked. If you need to unlock a door remotely, just put the smart lock and bridge on the door you need to open. Remember, if your just looking for a way for the in-laws to get in when you're not there, you don't need a bridge at all, just set them up as guests and they can open the door when they get to your house.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Another scenario: I purchased 2 August Pro 3rd gen with connect when they first came out. Installed one on the security door and the other on the front door. Reason being is that I liked to convenience of having the auto-unlock feature which makes entering easier depending on how full my hands were carrying things in and not having to hold keys in your hand to unlock the door. The problem with that is the majority of people don't have just a deadbolt on their door. There's also a door knob/lever. So either A) you can replace the deadbolt with an August smart lock and continue unlocking the door knob/lever (kinda defeats the purpose of using "auto unlock" if you still need to use your key for the knob/lever. B) leave the door knob/lever unlocked so that you wouldn't need to use a key for one lock but not the other (remember, it's designed to work with a single-cylinder deadbolt. Not door knobs/levers). Doing so would actually reduce security than before because if you're the type of person who locks both the door knob and deadbolt (I mean seriously. Isn't that the reason for having/using a deadbolt in the first place is to have that extra layer of security?) or C: Maintaining the same level of security as before by replacing the door knob/lever with a august smart lock so that all the entire process is seamless from exterior to interior. You'd never have to have to have your key in hand for only one lock and not the other 2. The problem with that is that the "auto unlock" feature only works for one lock per door. Having one connect per lock doesn't change that. I recently upgraded my Gen 3s to Gen 4. Gen 4 locks don't even come with nor need a connect. Still can't auto unlock both locks when both locks are assigned to one house. One auto unlock feature per house regardless of number of locks. I haven't found a way to add a 2nd home so that 2 locks aren't under the same home so now I have 2 locks that can auto unlock at the same time. I haven't found a way to create a 3rd home for the 3rd lock. Either way I still need a key for more than one smart lock per house. Why don't I just leave the security door unlocked and put both August locks on the front door so that auto both auto unlock features work then I wouldn't need to use a key? That STILL gives me less security than I had previously because what used to be always locked is now left unlocked. So how can I have 3 locks to work how they were intended? By creating ANOTHER house so each house would have one lock. How do I add yet ANOTHER home to my keychain that already has 2?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You will need a connect for each lock you want remote access too. Homekit works great because you can connect more than 1 lock also you will have remote access to these locks. The connect is needed for Alexa, Google Home, the new Lock which is not round, and for Android users.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am not sure, you need to contact the manufacturer
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If I'm reading correctly, you have a total of 2 locks. You only need 1 Connect. That is if you plan to control both locks with anything but the standard August app. (Alexa, Siri, Harmony, etc). The lock with home kit can be controlled if you have a 4th generation apple TV within Bluetooth range of your August Smart Lock that is setup to work with HomeKit. You can then use Siri remotely or operate remotely through the August app. Unfortunately that will not cover the other lock. The connect allows. For total integration and really allows you to enjoy everything August has to offer.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You only need one you can also connect a light kit camera other accessories
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. One connect should be enough for both multiple locks.
