Yes, gen 2 has Apple Homekit enabled, so you can use Siri to lock and unlock the door and the Home app as well.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is Gen 2. The main differences are integration with Apple's HomeKit automation and a much better designed battery cover.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.August 1 does not have HomeKit integration. HomeKit automatically makes it the second version of the product.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. So I have both. I can tell you the first gen is junk in comparison. The software is much improved. The hardware itself is completely redone and makes turning the dial lock so much easier. It literally takes nothing to turn the dial vs the old lock was a direct connection and you had to muscle it by comparison. I love the second gen. I was literally thinking of returning the first one and not bothering with August. The new lock makes it easier and is a huge improvement. It works with my Apple Watch, my phone, and while not new, I love the auto lock feature. As an added note, worth getting the wifi block so you can see if your door was opened or if you need to open it for some reason you can.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The 2nd gen lock has Apple HomeKit connectivity so you can use Siri to automate your lock. Also, if you have an Apple TV (gen 3 or higher) then you don't need an August Connect to access it remotely.
