• It fits over an existing deadbolt, so you can use your own key. Also, the lock alerts you when your batteries need to be replaced.

• What is nice, using a conventional key to lock and unlock is still an option with the door lock

• Yes, you use your original keys to open if the batteries die! I keep a spare in my car in case. However, I've read the battery lasts a few months and you are alerted of a low battery.

• You can still use your existing key to unlock the door from the outside. Only the inside of the deadbolt is modified with this smartlock.
