It is a screen capture device. It allows data to transfer from a gaming device, in my case an iPad or iPhone, to my computer. I use it for showing what is on my phone or tablet. The device does not care what it is showing (live or prerecorded), it only cares about the source. I hope that helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If your computer (Mac or Pc) meets the minimum specs and video card requirements, you can live stream using the software downloads from Avermedia or third party streaming software. You can also record directly record to a Mini-SD card with minimum requirements. You'll need a modern game console to live stream from a console.

You attach an HDMI cable to the back of the unit from your source (cannot be copyrighted content with HDCP such as a Blu-Ray disk or certain cable broadcasts etc.) Put a MicroSD card in the back or have the USB connection go to your PC or external HD. Press the illuminated button in the center of the device and it begins recording. It will continue to record until you press the button again to stop recording or when your media runs out of space. The device does warn you when your media is almost full by flashing faster instead of a slow and steady red flash. When it is not recording the central button it is a solid blue color.
