Don’t worry too much about special tools but definitely get at least one 1kg roll of “PLA”filament any color you want to use. That will do about 40 hours of print time and buy him at least a couple weeks to learn about the other filament types. I found a black and white two pack for about $25, I like to compare filament to ink pens - simple but tons of colors, brands, and types (washable, permanent, felt tip, etc).

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would have a laptop that you can dedicate to using with it. Buy 4 or five rolls of filament. You can find these on amazon and we are able to print 5-6 small items with one roll.
