• The static you are hearing I believe is meant to block out other sound when something is not playing, sort of like a white noise situation

• No, I don't have that issue with my pair. Sounds like there may be a defect with yours. You may want to reach out to the company directly and see if they can help resolve the issue for you. I have good sound quality and there is no interference or static sounds.
