Hi Colorado14er, I think it is unlikely that this particular cable will work for you, but there are a couple of solutions available. 1. If you search it up for either "usb 2.0 b type" and "usb 3.0 b type" images on the internet, you will likely find an image of the port on your external hard drive. You should then be able to find a cable that is USB-C (compatible with Thunderbolt 3 Port) on one end and the needed USB B Type on the other end. 2. Since this adapter may also be useful for other devices (printer, flash drive, etc...), you may want to pick up a USB-C (M) to USB-A (F) adapter, then use the manufacture cable that came with your external drive.
