“Desktop and Router are in different rooms I live in an apartment and my router is in the other room and my desktop (in which I am planning to use this device) is in other room. Will it work properly even when the doors are closed? Thanks”

I have a similar set up in my apartment about 20 feet away and the wifi connection is working perfectly. Just make sure the wifi adapter and router are not covered but have ample space to send signals to one another.
