“Does this provide volume as well? I see it says "Display Port" but does that mean the picture will only show or will the volume connect as well.”

• With HDMI my MF839LLA MacBook Pro was upgraded to the El Capitan and yes sound and picture comes out on my 65" Samsung LED. This also worked on the NS-PD94592 made by insignia. Keep in mind I had to turn the volume up and down using the TV and not the Apple.

• I bought this cable. Mini Display port to HDMI. Plugged my Alienware computer into my Plasma TV. Only the video transmitted, no sound. In the computer the video card and the sound card are two separate cards. The shouldn't be communicating with each other. So the video card (containing the display port) should not play sound and the sound card should not play video.

• Depends on the configuration of the PC supplying the video signal. This is generally adjustable in settings. It is definitely designed to be able to do both.

• Display Port carries an audio signal as well.

• Hi Kate. The Mini Display Port-to-HDMI adapter allows you to streams both audio and video contents.
