• just a router only - gotta go grab the modem separate. But I will say - easy to set up and configure, and I have had no need to even try to use the wired part - wireless speed and connection is great! (Note: We only use this for desktop work and web surfing/youtube videos. do not know how well it holds up for heavy online gaming/big time downloading etc). Great small office wireless router - 40', with HEAVY cross signals from 20+ other wifi routers in the immediate area.

• Yes, if you have a cable internet connection you will need a separate modem. This is just a router.
