The Belkin N600 Wireless Router will work with AT&T internet as long as you have a modem supplying an ethernet connection for your router. If you use Dial-up access this router will not work for you. Regards, Belkin Support

If you have a slow connection, it doesn't matter how fast a router you buy because the router will not increase your Internet speeds. If you have great Internet speeds and live in the country (I assume you mean middle of no where) than yeah it would work fine, but the signal wont carry on for more than the router is designed for, a few hundred feet at most.
