“Will this work with a MacBook Air? My wife's MacBook air (2016) has a USB-C type port that she uses for charging and has no other way to connect anything via USB. Would this work for her?”

Hello. The Belkin F4U098 is tested to work with Mac OS Sierra or higher. Though it cannot provide power to charge laptop or smartphones and if you wish to connect peripherals USB-A 3.0 and USB-A 2.0 ports, then it should work fine.
