- Answer That depends on the type of connector your HDD has. Some newer ones have USB-C, and in this case it's worth to get USB-C - USB-C cable. Otherwise, I suggest to use the cable that came with your HDD: as long as it's regular USB (type A) on one end, you should be fine.
