No it won't work, even if u purchase a separate adapter.

Make sure and double check at some point after turning it off that it's actually off though because there's been a few times I have turned it off after leaving the house and the light on the app shows it turned off only to turn it back on at night and seeing that it didn't initially connect that morning and my a/c had been running all day long.
