• Hi, doug. Like any other electrical devices, it will continue to use a small amount of energy even in standby mode. We highly recommend to unplug the charging pad if it is not in use.

• I believe it doesn’t use any power when not in use. There is a little light that turns on to let you know your phone is charging make sure it goes off otherwise the phone may not be making contact therefore no charge happens. -EDiddy42
