The basic difference between 802.11n and 802.11g is transfer speed, so yes if your router is 802.11g your new 802.11n USB adapter will connect but only at the 802.11g speed. Alot of apps now can be automatically installed by Windows when the device is connected.

To obtain N300 speeds you will need an N300 router, otherwise the adapter will only get the max capable connection speed of the router. Regards, Belkin Support
