I trust Belkin better than other brands for this kind of simple, reliable, comoditized device.
USB connector means it is very easy to install. Like other USB products, drivers should be installed first. The install will prompt you at which point to hook up this unit. This makes it a clean install if you are good at following simple instructions.
Be ready to buy a USB extension cable for two reasons:
One is that it is pretty thick as a USB device. If you have stacked USB sockets, like in the back of desktop PCs, it will cover more than just its own sockets, usually the one above, below, or both. Same for side-by-side sockets.
Two, the back of some desktops produces a lot of electrical noise, so you may need to relocate the adapter elsewhere for much better WiFi reception and speed.
An install I made ran into this very problem because of plugging this unit directly in the back. Speed went down from 1.5 Mb/s to barely 128kb/s, with a lot of dropped packets and its concomitant delays, choppiness, and retransmissions. Once attached the extension cable, it got back its original speed.
I would recommend to buy the USB extension cable (A-Type Plug-Socket) online. It is too expensive retail.

I was able to get started with this simple USB device very easily, but it was flaky for a few days until a driver update arrived. Since then, this has been working great. At 300 Mbps, it's not a speed demon, but it's still faster than my ISP offers, so I have not experienced any bottlenecks.

Not the fastest, but easy to install, and never drops out. My old Dynex never wanted to work, and when you really needed it, it would disconnect. The Belkin N300 is very reliable..

I needed to make my desktop wireless so I could place my computer somewhere other than where my cable modem has to be (because of the cable outlet). This product works exactly as expected! It turned my desktop computer into a wireless desktop. The product receives and sends wirelessly very quickly and installation took less than 5 minutes. It works perfectly and hasn't affected any of my computers functionality. The only downside I have is the product is about twice the width of a regular USB drive, but it's not a problem for me.

This is a great adapter. I bought it for a desktop computer that is on the second story of a house. It has excellent reception and speed. This adapter is very easy to install. I would recommend this wireless adapter for the average internet user.

Bought this for a friend of mine who isn't good with computers. It was super simple to install just run the installation CD, disable the on-board wifi then plug in the adapter and you're good to go. The only problem I had with this is that every once in a while the adapter will heat up and disconnect from the internet, simple solution to that is just to unplug it, let it cool down then plug it back into the computer.

Installed on Windows Vista Home Premium on HP laptop when the laptop's internal WiFi stopped working. Easy Plug-N-Play install. I'm even using it on a Belkin USB hub because I was running out of hard USB ports on the laptop. Perfectly acceptable performance for home use. It would be a disappointment in a business environment where large amounts of data need to be moved.

We recently moved into a larger home that did not have cat 5 wiring for phones like our previous home did. So, we needed one more wireless dongle for the bedroom PC. This Belkin filled the bill nicely, it was easy to install and works well with the new router & repeater combo that I installed. Best of all it was on sale.

I had to move my entire system to a good distance away out of my office into a totally different room. To rewire from the main box would have been a very costly thing to do. In older days that would have been the only option. A friend recommended wireless that I didn't know anything about and I had this option. Works perfectly with no rewiring. It picks up the signal from the box in the original office where I left it-no rewiring at all, and computer runs better now than from original location. I'am very, very pleased. This is the second Belkin product I have purchased that has been exceptional and reliable-outstanding. Thankyou.

It isn't fancy but it does the job of adding wireless wifi to a desktop. Just install the software and plug in the usb receiver. Unless you're a gamer, the speed suffices. It's enough to stream video.

Bought this for a desktop I have that is not near a hard wired router/lan line. I get great speeds, and it was easy and painless to install. When the internet connection is not working, a webpage from Belkin automatically pops up telling you what you can do to troubleshoot.

Not very tech savvy. Was getting wireless service for first time for new laptop. Found out an adapter might make my 7+ yr old desktop work wireless also. A Best Buy employee helped me find the section and recommended this one as adequate for my needs, despite more expensive ones next to it. (I appreciate the honesty.) Plugged it in to a port and it set itself up in moments. Works fine, from signal 45ft away.

For the price this is a good product. I installed it about 3 weeks ago and it has worked fine. Installation was a breeze. You follow the simple steps and it connects up automatically. The only negative is it loses connection with my router while my other system is connected fine...A simple power off/on of the router allows the system to connect right back...

No surprises...just take it out of the packaging, plug it in and it connected. Hasn't lost the signal and it allowed me to place a desktop system across the room without having to run ugly CAT5. A little more expensive than some internet sites but it was stocked on the shelf & I had it up and running long before a mail order version would have even arrived.

Bought this because the wireless NIC on my laptop was on the fritz and it was cheaper then replacing the NIC itself, also, I am able to use it on another PC without a Wireless NIC.
I am an IT Tech and I use my personal laptop to work from home when I am on-call and this works really well. It gets excellent reception and the speed is great for streaming.

This was one of the easiest Wi-Fi adapter installations I have ever performed. The steps were easy... 1. Install software 2. Plug in device 3. Select network and enter password. It was working after that and had a the reception was great regardless that the Wi-Fi router was on the 1st floor and this computer is in the basement. Almost full bars.

I bought this to connect an old laptop to stream high bit-rate video more reliably. That did not work as expected. This thing does provide good transfer speed, given decent connection strength, but it would not stay connected. It would effectively become "disconnected" from the computer and you have to plug it out and then replug into the USB port to regain connection. This would happen in the midst of streaming video, and it would sometimes do so multiple times in an hour.
