Can the main body and oil tank be separated? null

No. The main body and oil container are all in one fused together. The basket is able to be removed. I've just set aside 2 empty containers for used oil that is still good enough to use again. For example, one container labeled Fries/Tots and another labeled Seafood. Once the oil cools off and is strained, just pour and store it. Not bad to reuse 2 or 3 times similar to a restaurant and stored in a cabinet for frequent use. Very convenient appliance.
